Otherwise, the tldr; is that I have automated programs monitoring my desktop pdf-reader and audible library nightly, updating this page with each book’s current status and recent progress.

Why? I was inspired by Patrick Collison’s Bookshelf, but I wanted to expand on the idea. Finished books say something about what you know, books in progress say how you’re spending your time, and unopened books say something about your ambitions – where you’re headed, one might argue, if the breadth of finished books and the pace of those in progress supports your case.
